This blog documents the journey of one family’s relocation from Hollywood, California to the Japanese countryside. From personal thoughts and new experiences, to the challenges and a little insight into Japanese culture and our own culture-shock.
We also hope to showcase some of the lesser known, “off the beaten path” sites and locations of this area that may be unknown to the average tourist. Follow us as we meet new characters, from locals to other expat’s and learn more about their personal stories.

Exciting. I too packed up my life and moved lock, stock and two smoking barrels to a small village in Turkey with hubby (Turkish) and Daughter in tow. I truly believe that the cultural advantages of a bi-lingual and expat child will bring huge benefits to that child when they are grown. Following.
Thank you for sharing. Some parts of our personality can only be shaped through experience and exposure i think. And just make for more interesting and rounded human beings. 🙂 I’m excited for the challenge.
I’m glad you are in the countryside! That is the best part of Japan in my opinion! Have fun!
